hi, i have a ibm motherboard that has an intel 945p chipset that currently has a 641 p4 in it.... now the intel site says it is capable of running a c2d with it, but if i remember correctly, i checked their site quite a few months ago and their site didn't mention c2d capabilities with the 945. so.. im confused, is it the chipset that runs the cpu?.. if it does, is a c2d able to run on this chipset?

Some of the early versions of the 945 chipset boards do not have the voltage capability to run C2D. I know ASUS realeasd version 2 MBs with their 945 chipset that run C2D processors. You might send your MB tech support an email and ask if your MB version supports C2D. You will be limited to using PC5400 667 mhz. RAM on the 945 chip. You have to go to 965 or 975 to benefit from PC6400 or higher RAM speeds.
