So I am looking to build a decent PC with an AMD FX-6300 as the processor, clocked @ 3.5Ghz with a boost clock of 4.1Ghz. I also found a Intel Core i5 clocked at the same speed. THe only difference is the amount of cores, FX-6300 being 6 and the i5 at 4. I looked up those versus each other, and the i5 is always better than the FX, I think its just that the i5 has integrated graphics, but im running a discrete card. What one is better without the integrated graphics?

Solution
The 4690 at stock clocks will out class the 6300 in most areas. Particularly gaming, where single core usage is premium. If you're running applications that make use of more than four cores, that's when the 6300 will begin to shine, if overclocked. Regardless the 4690 is the general winner in performance.
