So i built my computer using the MSI gaming 5 motherboard and i'm confused about something. There is a dedicated and separate power supply going to the Audio and im almost positive i have it turned on. Which audio output am i supposed to use? The one on the back of my computer coming from the motherboard, or can i use the one on the front of my case?

You referring to msi direct audio power.
You need to make sure you plug in the power, switch the switch on the motherboard and use the back panels ports for audio.

Well i obviously have done all of those things and the audio is the same as always. Switch on or off it sounds the same. To be honest they are very unclear about how to take advantage of the separately powered audio. I mean it sounds great but i have no idea the back audio ports are different than the cases front audio.

To me its a gimmicky advertisement for the motherboard. With the high impedance headphones you need a lot of power to drive them. A normal sound chip cannot drive them , you would need a decent amplifier. That is what the MSI direct audio power aims to be an amplifier although. "better audio" is the wrong word to use for this feature.
