Hey all!

I am just starting to think about building an x299 pc. For my 1150 build, I got great temperatures with a zalman fan, and a very minor overclock of my 4770.

I've heard there are horrible temperature issues with the x299 boards, would a high end CPU fan fix them? I'm not familiar with exactly what the VRM problem is. I am not planning on overclocking, but will buy a high end cpu with 8 cores.

Solution
One scenario going around is that the higher temps on the Skylake-X CPUs is the fact that those CPUs use a [lower] quality thermal paste inside the CPU package resulting in higher temps across the board. If you read the various posts on various forums about the issue you'll find that there seems to be no solution. You're going to have higher temps. Period!

To what degree those higher temps are a problem can be mitigated a little with a high end cooler, but will on average still run warmer than other CPUs.

on one side there is the vrm overheating issue caused by the cpu pulling lots of amps and inadequate heatsink/cooling on the vrms, along with some board only giving 8 pin power plug instead of 8+4 pin, making the cable runs hot, cpu is a problem because like usual, intel is just giving toothpaste as tim instead of soldering them, but delidding could solve it, about the vrm thing, der8auer explain this in-depth on one of his videos, might want to look that up
