[SOLVED] Confused on how to upgrade my m.2 ssd

Hi All,

I have an old Aurora R6 with 256mb m.2 drive and I want more storage space. I looked up the Alienware Aurora R6 specs and Dell says I have an m.2 SATA slot. But then when I look in Device Manager on Windows 10 under Disk drives, it says NVMe THNSN5256GPUK NV. The articles I've been reading seem to differentiate between SATA and NVMe. So I looked up my current m.2 on amazon to get a hint of what type of m.2 I really have and the description says it is a PCIe.

In short, Dell specs say SATA, Windows 10 says PCIe, and an amazon description check says PCIe. I'm worried I'm going to buy the wrong type.

Here is some information if it helps:
Current disk drive as per device manager: NVMe THNSN5256GPUK NV
Motherboard model: Alienware 07HV66
PC Model: Aurora R6 Desktop

Thanks for the reply! The one in the amazon link has 2 gaps between the pins and the NVMe samsung has only 1 gap. Do I need to buy one with 2 gaps or will the 1 gap one fit in the slot (assuming I currently have a NVMe slot)?

Best idea. I'm going to put in ram this weekend and that will give me a chance to get the model number.

I just checked the m.2 and it says "THNSN5256GPUK NVMe" and also has PCIe on it. So the dell specs were wrong saying it was sata. Thanks for the replies everyone!
