Confused with the new Intel sockets

I want to buy this CPU:

It's the Intel Core i7-8700K 3.7Ghz.

I considered this MOBO:

but notice it says "Supports 7th and 6th Generation Intel® Core™ i7/i5/i3/Pentium®/Celeron® Processors (Socket 1151)"

and notice it says "8th gen" on the CPU box ... so?

also whats the difference with this one?

200 series (H270, Z270, B250) and older motherboards do not support 8th Gen (Coffee Lake) CPUs. Even though coffee lake still uses the LGA 1151 socket, you need a 300 series mobo. Currently only Z370 motherboards have been released for coffee lake.

8th gen CPU's will only work on B360/H370 (neither released yet) or Z370 motherboards.

Thanks. Do you know any MOBO that has a dedicated USB mouseport that allows you to overclock the hz of the mouse? like the Fatal1ty motherboards have.

If you mean what other manufacturers offer that feature, then I have no idea. To be honest I think it sounds kind of gimmicky, but that's just me.

It's not a gimmick. If stupid microsoft added native drivers that allowed for overclocking your mouse, you wouldn't need to deal with 3rd party stuff. There is a world of difference from a mouse running at 125hz to 1000hz. This port allows you to do this without having to run dodgy software. There is a big thread on this here:

These guys managed to get their driver signed so you dont need to run windows in test mode to enjoy a smooth mouse, but you are supposed to trust the links not having any viruses, also in windows 7 it doesn't work unless you have an USB 2.0 port... to sum it up, better have that dedicated fatal1ty thing port.

*Shrug* if you say so. A polling time of 125 Hz corresponds to a maximum input lag of 8 ms (average 4 ms), compared to 1/0.5 ms max/average for 1000 Hz. For comparison, the average human reaction time to visual stimulus is ~300 ms.

Yes, the mobo I linked is guaranteed to work with the i7-8700K you want to get.

I don't care what the numbers are. Try a Windows Mouse Optical at 125hz. Try it again at 1000hz, or 500hz. The difference from 125hz to 500hz in smoothness is obvious, not so much from 500hz to 1000hz. Anyone that has good reflexes and is not too old will notice this. Ask anyone in esreality.com
