I'm looking for a RAM upgrade for my Asus b75m-a motherboard, I only have 2GB's and I need atleast 8GB for my tasks. I kinda knew what I was looking at until I looked up b75m-a ram upgrades and then looked on crucial website, when I look up b75m-a ram upgrades, I get RAM with specs:
240 Pin 1.5v DDR3 PC3-10600 Non-ECC Dimm
But on Crucial, if I put in my motherboard, I get RAM's with
DDR3 PC3-12800 • CL=11 • Unbuffered • NON-ECC • DDR3-1600 UDIMM • 1.5V • 256Meg x 64 •
and
DDR3 PC3-12800 • CL=11 • Unbuffered • NON-ECC • DDR3L-1600 UDIMM • 1.35V • 256Meg x 64 •
I got confused with all the UDIMM and DIMM and DDR3L ect. Until now, I was only looking if it's DDR3, non-ecc/unbuffered and max speed of 1600mhz, nothing else, I'm not sure I was doing this right. If someone could let me know what the RAM has to be for Asus b75m-a and what I'm supposed to be looking a, I would highly appreciate, I also got confused with what PC2 and PC3 supposed to be, thanks.

Solution

Yes - you were doing everything right.
DDR3L - is low voltage version of DDR3. You can use it also.
DIMM - is ram form factor for desktops, SODIMM - for laptops.
PC2 - is DDR2 ram, not suitable for your motherboard.

Thanks a lot, that cleared the air for me, I assume PC3 is DDR3 ram since PC2 is DDR2?
