Wow, the demo is just awesome on the Jade Empire LE. I'm geeked for this
one.

i can appreciate your viewpoint. however, folks like me who never had
the N64 now have the opportunity to play this title will now finally
have that chance. i recall hearing it was set up for Live!, which, for
me, is too bad as I don't subscribe. still, this may be a great weekend
rental all the way. looking forward to it! ;o)

"Finally have a chance"? Did you know for less than the $49.99 this is
going to cost on the XBOX, you could get an N64 and the original Conker?
And maybe have enough left over for a beatup copy of Goldeneye.

I just got the Psychonauts demo for ten dollars (with a free copy of the
May issue of OXM). It says right on the cover that Psychonauts is the
best XBOX Platformer. "It has to be very damn good to pass Voodoo
Vince" I told myself as I got it. I found the demo to be very good. I
moves the game up a few places on my need to get list.

did you notice i had written that it'd be "a great weekend rental?" it
seems unlikely i'd find a decent N64 console with controllers and a
copy of conker for under $7. lemme know if you hear anything. ;o)

Yep, but you won't be playing multiplayer on live.

Your line about 'Finally getting a chance to play it' is separate from your
line about 'renting it for a weekend'.

I still should have put them together myself, but had just gotten finished
playing the Psychonauts demo from the May OXM (#44). My mind was else where
(pun intended).

guess i'm expecting a lot from the next big platformer... does it live
up so far?

I enjoyed the T2 reference, myself, in the trailer for the Live experience.

Not only that, but it's class-based MP (like TeamFortress).

I will be picking it up as soon as I can. I had a lot of fun with the demo.
I look forward to some platforming goodness.

It's a great platformer, and it's 100% Tim Schafer.

Really looking forward to this, and I'm very interested in Conker too. No
matter how cheap a N64 with a controller and the original Conker is, there's
just no excuse for the worst gamepad ever. Gimme the remake anytime.

That's what I'm talking about. That part of the game has completely
different controls than the rest of the game. Conker doesn't even have guns
through the majority of the game--he has a frying pan. Actually, I think he
does have those platformer controls on the run up from the beach, but
there's no platforming to be done there. The controls are a bit tough at
any point in the game--they could certainly be tighter--but that FPS-type
part in the demo was one of my least-favorite parts of the game.

I personally don't want to have to go buy a used N64 for just one game.
To say nothing of the fact I don't like the N64 controller at all...

Besides, wait a bit, and the game will drop to $20, like they all do
eventually.
