Conncting 3rd Party Router to our modem/router

I am planning to buy a Asus Ac1300UHP router because I am not satisfied with the stability with the modem/router that our ISP gave us. Our internet plan is a FTTH so i cannot get rid of out modem/router, I will just turn off the wireless on the modem router, and stick the new router in.

Is the installation that simple, is it just plug and play? I wanna make sure I get the most out of the new router.

There is one other thing u may want to turn off on old, NAT. Sometimes people say NO NAT=Bridge Mode.

If unable to do this, configure new router as an Access Point, there is a sticky up on top of the Wireless Forum.
