hello
iv been having occasional connection drops for a long time, only split-second DC's, since it dosnt affect most thing (downloads, youtube and such), and the signal strength icon is always full, and dosnt change when im having these drops.
until recently i was only feeling this while browsing, every once in a while (pretty often) i would get the 'server not found' screen while loading a new page, but refreshing immediately would load the page quick and easy.
i figured it was due to building's layout and distance from the router, but since i dont have an option right now to go direct connection, i just accepted the issue.
although very annoying, its acceptable for browsing and such, but lately i found i cant play any online games, those split-second drops are enough to disconnect me from the game every few minutes making it unplayable.
then, in the last few days, i found it only happens during daytime, at night i never get the 'server not found' page while browsing and i dont get disconnected from games.
my guess is that its because during the night there aren't any other computers working on the network (there are three on the network, two desktops, one is mine, and one laptop)
im looking for a solution to this issue, since i cant expect everyone to turn off their machine everytime i want to play a game.

im running windows 7 64bit
theres probably more info needed, but i dont really know what would be relevant, if you point me in the right direction i would post the info if needed.
thanks.

You can set the router's DHCP range; for example, if the static IP ends with 5, you can assign the DHCP range from 10-99. That way, every new device that uses auto assignment by DHCP will be given an IP above 10, allowing your single device to keep the IP ending in 5.

thanks for the quick reply house
i assigned a static IP (hopefully done right, had to google this :))
i cant fully test this right now, but if it does solve this, how do i set the router to not include the static ip?
