Connect 2 computers with rj45

Hey guys i have two pcs one of them is windows7 another win8 i connect them with rj45cable and go to windows run and type cmd and write ping 192.168.1.10 the other one ping 192.168.1.11
When i go to the network and connecting in control panel in win8 one it write ethernet but in the win7 one it is local network in the change adaptor menu there is a red X under the local earia connection and there is a eternal i cant make the red x disappear (it is not disable)
What the Hell?!?!Can you guys help me

Try to set the port speed to the same thing on both.
if they support gigabit then set it to Gigabit full duplex.

Also I'm guessing here that you aren't actually getting a ping response?

You need a RJ-45 crossover cable. These are designed for connecting two networking devices that are the same. I.E. switch to switch, pc to pc, they need crossover cables instead of straight cables.

A crossover cable may work. if the nic cards are gigabit. then you probably don't need a crossover.

You don't always need a crossover. It's probably less common to actually need a crossover these days.

If ports are gigabit then they SHOULD be auto-sensing and not need a crossover as per the gigabit specification.

If ports are not gigabit then they will need a crossover cable.

You need to have PCs setup with static IP and no gateway address, and I would also test the cable to make sure it is not the problem.
