Connect a laptop DVD player to a PC over USB

I recently got a DVD Player from an old laptop and since my MacBook does not have one I decided to use it.
I like doing things myself and I don’t want to buy an adapter to convert sata slim to USB (6 pins for power and 7 for data) even if it’s cheap but I couldn’t find a scheme or something similar to understand where to connect the 4 usb cables
Any ideas?

so a slimline to usb is about $8 or a new and probably quicker usb DVD drive is $20 on amazon.

The problem is a sata cable has 7 wires, 3 grounds and 4 data wires. For usb you only have a Data+ and Data- So best guess would be to tie the transmit and receive + together to the Data+ and the transmit- and receive- to the Data-, or only hook up the transmit wires to usb and see if it will pull information from the drive.

1 GND
2 A+ Transmit +
3 A- Transmit -
4 GND
5 B- Receive-
6 B+ Receive+
7 GND

For power

Red 5+ will go to pins 2 & 3 and Black GND goes to pin 5 & 6
