I am going to get wired broadband at home (1mbps unlimited plan). however can i connect my Android smartphone to that network wirelessly? do i need a router to do this? if yes, then which type of router should i buy? please suggest me one from www.flipkart.com

Solution
You can either buy a router and any router would do, I have a cheap TP-Link router that have been running for 7 years
or
You can create an Ad-hoc network on your computer so you can connect your mobile to the computer and use the internet
but that requires your computer to be working to use the internet on your phone

about the 2nd method : do my pc needs additional capabilities (like a networking card etc.) to create such connection? or can any pc do that?
as for the router.... i am seeing two variants one is with modem and the other is without. does that matter?.

Yes your PC needs a wireless card, not sure if you have one, also some of the new mobos have a built in one.
and about the router get the non-modem one if you're going to use a broadband cable.
