Ok, so I have an old Mag 770v CRT monitor that originally came with a power cable that powered the monitor from the PSU of the PC. (like this one https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/I/31g1B3Qf53L.jpg)

Now, I have lost this cable but I have another one that can power the monitor via the wall outlet (like this one http://www.datapro.net/images/9212.jpg)

Can I safely go ahead and plug the monitor into the wall outlet, or should I look for a power cord that will connect PSU to monitor rather than wall outlet to monitor?

Thanks guys

You can plug the monitor off the 2 prong power plug. the cable you once had as used way back in the old ages...in fact PSU's that allowed them were horrible and have been the case of fire incidents.

You're fine with this:

The third pin on the top is for grounding, you'll be fine with or without it. You're going to be fine so long as the pinout on the plugs corresponds to the inputs on your wall socket. Were talking about the pins and not the IEC connector, right? :)

Ok guys the first picture I posted is wrong what I meant was like this one http://www.vali.bg/pictures/powermonitor.jpg

Sorry I didn't realise that 3 pins could go into the wall. I'm based in Europe on 220V and we use wall sockets like on the picture Lutfij posted (cee 7/7)

So the Mag monitor originally used a cable like the one on the picture above. The cord powered the monitor from the computer power supply, not from the wall outlet.

Now I don't have this cord, so is it safe to use a standard cord that is used to power the PC (wall outlet to PSU) to power the monitor?

Yeah, mate this is exactly what I was thinking about but picked the wrong image. So the monitor originally came with this kind of a power cable.
