Connect laptop for us as DVD player.

I'm building a PC and I'm not planning to put a cd Drive in, since I don't have a space in my case and I would rather be on the cheaper side. I am willing to buy an external CD player if I have to. Mainly what I am wanting to know is if I can connect my bluray player, or laptops to my computer using USB and putting a disc into the bluray player or laptop, and sending data to the new PC.
Simpler way is, can I connect a laptop/bluray player to act as a cd Drive for my new computor.

You can share out the CD player of the laptop, and then connect the desktop to the laptop's cd player

He meant 'share', through your LAN and router.
On the laptop, open file explorer.
This PC
Right click on the DVD drive, "Share with..." or "Give access to"

Then on the desktop...you should be able to see that shared resource.


Or, spend $15 for an external USB DVD drive.
