Question Connect non-bootable Macbook Pro to Windows 10 machine

I am looking to copy files off of a Macbook Pro that will not boot because there is not enough hard drive space. I would like to know if I can connect my Mac to my Win10 machine using HFSExplorer and a USB to Thunderbolt cable. Will HFSExplorer recognize the Mac hard drive if I boot the Mac into Target Disk mode?

Yes, I am trying to see the files on the macbook and delete enough to allow the mac to properly boot. I am not skilled enough to remove the mac drive so I am trying to perform this externally. Also, I don't want to jump straight to reformatting the drive using a bootable installer on a USB.
