Is it possible to connect to my Home Hub?

Solution

You can't use your home wifi in public. You can connect to your home network to share files, but you need internet access to do that.

If all you want is your own internet connection at...
The easy way is to remote desktop your system using "TeamViewer" in TeamViewer you will need to set up a password because it auto generates on each time the program is open. It is totally free, and you can copy/transfer files back and fourth etc... It's just like remote desktop, but better, and faster. You will need to have this installed and open on your home computer, and the computer you are working off of to access your home files.

Your other easy option is to buy a NAS device. Networked Attached Storage devices have a built in FTP server that you can setup and access from anywhere. I have a DNS321 which is a older one, but they work great.

Here is a link to a NAS

I personally go with DLink, but that's just me. I have been using the same NAS with no issues for half a decade with no problems yet. A lot of companies are now calling them "Cloud Storage Devices" for marketing. Just in case you are researching them on Google.

Is there no way for my computer to use an external devise, like one in my bag for example, that serves as a relay between my Hub and my PC? I have a raspberry pi if thats something it can do. I pretty much want my own home network, (bypassing the school wifi as i dont have a code). The problem is i am not allowed to use school wifi with my personal laptop as it is a security risk, yet i am 'allowed to find a way around it'. As much as i would like a NAS i doubt it is logical or feasible to carry that around with me and not to mention expensive.

If all you want is your own internet connection at school, you can set your phone up as a hotspot and your laptop can connect to that, and you can have internet. Only do this if your phone plan comes with unlimited data.
