Question Connect To Home Router From Abroad

I would like to know if it is possible in what I would like to be able to do and any help would be much appreciated.
I would like to be able to connect an Android box, from abroad to my router in the UK and use my Internet connection
from home to access services which block content from not being situated in the UK.
I currently have a subscription paid VPN provider app installed on the android box but the BBC iplayer and ITV Hub
are still blocking the ip addresses from my VPN client.
In my apartment abroad, I have a router which is connected to a Spanish provider and with the android box connected wirelessly,
I can connect to the Internet.
I have a IP CCTV system at home in the UK and I can connect to the CCTV via my home router with no problems. This is achieved by
DDNS through NO-IP provider which came free with my Netgear D6400 router.
Would it therefore be possible for the android box through an app, connect to my router so as I can access the TV catch-up services
through using my UK IP address? I would think through DDNS as well as I have a dynamic IP address.
I have heard about Open VPN installed on the router and pc might be what I am looking for but I'm not quite sure how to go about it.
Thank you for your time and look forward to any help in being able to solve this issue if at all possible.
Regards

Yes you can do what you want but you need 2 things.
First a router that has the ability to run as a vpn server, many run openvpn as well as other forms of vpn.
You need a public ip address it does not have to be static because routers have another feature called dyndns to solve that but the key is the address must be accessible from the internet which means it must be public.

This will mostly work because the vpn makes your traffic appear as if you were using your android box on your local wifi. You have to be somewhat careful because to send the traffic to you in the remote location it uses UPLOAD bandwidth. It also of course uses the normal download bandwidth a local device would . The issue tends to be people do not have huge upload rates. The vpn also adds about 10-15% overhead. Then again the router cpu will also bottleneck you in the 20-30mbps on most routers.
