Two days ago I woke to a dead power supply unit. I swapped it out for another one, the new one lit the motherboard, but would not power on the PC. After days of trying to find out why it won't power on I find that if any kind of storage is connected it prevents the PC from turning on.

I connected these storage devices to a laptop and all the files are still there, each one seems to have all the files and have no issues.

The PC will boot if the connector cables are connected, just not if SSD's/HDD's are.

I have tried everything, every single piece of the PC can be connected, but if any storage is it will be completely dead apart from the motherboard light.

All of this has started from a dead PSU so I have no idea what could have caused this.

I used the same cables that were used with the previous PSU. Is it that simple? I assumed all of the cables were cross platform and would all work with each other. The cables were from an EVGA unit, the new one is Corsair. Reading up on PSU cables and now seeing they are not interchangeable. So that was the mistake, using the wrong cables (they're all the same color, have the same amount of connectors and were stored in the same place)
