Hey I'm trying to connect 2 monitors together using DVI and connect from laptop to one of the monitors via VGA, to do dual monitors. Does anyone know how to make this happen? Here is a picture of what I mean. I'm looking to extend the desktop, not duplicate. I do have a HDMI port, so a HDMI to 2 VGA ports would be nice.

Doesn't work that way. What are you trying to accomplish?

If you want the displays mirrored. You can use a VGA splitter from the laptop to duplicate the signal.

If you want to extend the desktop and your laptop does not have enough ports. You can use a USB to DVI graphics adapter. Which is really just a basic low end GPU.

If your laptop also has an HDMI port. I'd use an HDMI to DVI cable for the second monitor.
