Question Connecting 3 external displays on Macbook 14" M2 Pro?

Hi. Is it possible to connect 3 external displays @ 1080p on a Macbook Pro 14" with an M2 Pro chip using a USB 3 Dell Docking Station? I am getting confused trying to interpret the following article https://support.apple.com/en-ca/HT213503

It says that using a hub does not increase the number of displays.

I'm moving from a Dell XPS that's running 3 external displays @ 1080p 60Hz each and would like to repurpose it when I move to a 2023 Macbook Pro 14" with an M2 pro chip.

But that's when the display cables (whether Thunderbolt or HDMI) are connected directly to the Macbook, right?

Would I get 3 external displays when I connect just the Dell docking station via USB C ?

Installing DisplayLink allowed me to replicate my 3 display setup with the MBP successfully.
