Question Connecting 4K display over USB Type-C

Hello, I'm new here and hope you can help me with my problem.

I am trying to connect a 4K monitor to my PC, using an USB-C to DisplayPort cable.

My hardware setup is:

CPU Intel 6700K with HD530 graphics
Mainboard Gigabyte GA-Z170-HD3P (rev. 1.0) (Intel Z170 + ASMedia ASM1142)
Display Philips 276E8VJSB/11
Cable Uni USB-C to DisplayPort cable
OS Windows 10 64-bit

I though I could connect the display to the USB-C port on the mainboard and it would be able to display over internal graphics,
but when I do, there is no signal coming to the monitor.
My assumption is that it is a misunderstanding on my part what the capabilities of my mainboard are.
I would be very thankful if somebody could explain to me why exactly my setup doesn't work. (...or suggest a working solution, if one exists :) )
Thank you in advance!

Not all USB-C ports are compatible with DisplayPort.
They have to have the little "DP" mark near them for this to work.
If your port is a Thunderbolt 3 port, you will either need a different cable (I think, don't know much about Thunderbolt 3) or a dock/hub thingy that has display outputs on it.
That's my guess.

Thank you ragnarok0274 for your fast reply.
Yes, it certainly looks like it isn't DP compatible.
I don't think that it's a Thunderbolt 3 port either. Too bad.

By the way, do you know if this same logic applies to USB-C to HDMI 2.0 cables, too?
Thanks in advance again, appreciate the help :)

I don't think you can do what you want with integrated graphics.
The motherboard will output 4k using hdmi 1.4 and only at 24hz.
Your monitor requires displayport or hdmi 2.0.

Buy a used card like a GTX750ti on ebay for about $50.
I have an evga unit with dp out that runs 4k nicely @60hz.
