Greetings,

I just built a (basic $350) computer using an MSI A78M-E45 motherboard. The onboard graphics card has two outputs:
VGA
DVI-D dual link. (I did not realize at the time of purchase that it had a DVI-D dual link, not a DVI-I output.)
See last image:

I have two VGA monitors.

Is there any way to connect the DVI-D dual link output to a VGA monitor? The only solution I been able to figure out is to buy a DVI-D dual link output to a VGA converter --which is rather expensive ($25.95).

The MSI website states: "HDMI/DVI/D-Sub Support." Does that mean that I just have to buy an HDMI to VGA connector, not a converter? (possible connector: Cable Matters Gold-Plated Active HDMI to VGA Adapter -Male to Female- with 3 Ft Micro USB Cable - Black, about $15.00). Recommendations are welcome!

Does "HDMI/DVI/D-Sub Support" mean that it does not need a converter?

Thanks!!!

Thanks for the quick reply. Not exaclty what I wanted to hear, but clear and to the point! Thanks!

I don't understand your possible solution, "Why not just go vga to vga."

I have one monitor connected to my motherboard's VGA output. Is there a way to conntect two monitors to that same VGA output? I did a quick search for a VGA splitter, but unfortunately a VGA splitter would only duplicate the same image. Thanks!

VGA splitters do exist but it will only display the same image on both screens.
