I need some expert help please..I am trying to increase the number of ports available and have connected a gigabit ethernet switch to existing xfinity modem/router.
Problem is that when I connect a device (laptop) to the new switch, it cannot access the internet, whereas if I connect it directly to the existing router, it has connectivity. I just connected the router and switch using a standard ethernet cable and assumed that if its plug and play, I should be ab;e to connect a device to any of the 8 ports on the switch and they should have seamless connectivity, but that doesnt seem to be the case..any thoughts on what I could be missing? Wondering if its a specific issue with the Xfinity Arrris TG 862 router and it does not recognize the switch?
