Connecting a jack to a power cable

Hi, my router fell yesterday and its power cable twisted and its jacks broke. So the cable itself is fine but the jacke is broken. I have other cable with the same jack but lower output. I striped and cut one of the jacks and stripped the power cable. I twisted the cable together. The power cable is mafe of two cables and after i stripped and connected the cables and rhe jack, they sometimes touch and make sparks. Is there Better way to connect the jack abd the cable or just a better way to make a power cable?

The best way would be to solder the wires together then insulate them individually and overall with heatshrink sleeving.
