[SOLVED] Connecting a riser to the x16 slot

My motherboard has an empty x16 slot.
Can I connect a riser there, or should I only plug them in the smaller slots?

Is it safe? Will it affect performance?

(For mining, not gaming)

Riser is fine as long as its PCI-E slot....smaller = bigger (x4 - x16)...no problem!
For mining there is no impact on the performance.....
