Connecting a Roku w/ Ethernet Port to Telephone Jack?

Hi all, firstly, I have DSL internet service.

I recently bought a Roku box for streaming TV which I want to use wired, not connected via WiFi. The Roku has an Ethernet jack. I have an older house with RJ11 phone jacks.

What sort of device to I need that will plug into my phone jack to accommodate the "Ethernet-size" plug on the cable which will be running from the Ethernet jack on the Roku? Again, I do have DSL, not to worry.

I hope that I've phrased my question correctly. Thank you very much in advance.

You don't.
The physical telephone wire behind those RJ-11 jacks is not compatible with an ethernet signal and RJ-45 jacks.

An ethernet cable coming off your DSL router will work.

Thank you, USAFRet. That solved my problem very quickly. My DSL modem/router is unfortunately on the other side of the house, so I guess I'll be using the Roku over WiFi in this case.

Thank you again. Now I can end my search on Amazon etc trying to figure out so much terminology and so many diagrams. No wonder they made no sense to me.

Another solution would pe powerline devices.
It pumps the ethernet signal through your house wiring.

When it works, it works. But it is very dependent on your house wiring.
