Hello,

My name is midhun. I recently bought a GPON ONT ( fiber Optic Network) for internet connectivity. i was given a Static IP address and a modem with only one Ethernet port and no WIFI. I already have a DLink ADSL2 modem + router ( 1 RJ 11 Port , 4 LAN, WIFI). Can you please help me so that i can connect the Ethernet cable from the ONT modem to one of the LAN ports in my ADSL2 router and setup a network so that i can use the 3 remaining LAN ports of the router for internet connectivity. Please bear in mind that the ISP has provided a static IP.

Solution
Most ADSL routers cannot be used as ordinary routers, so you need another box (router with RJ45 WAN interface) to share your Internet connection. It does not matter whether your ISP gave you static or dynamic address.
