I want to buy an new graphic card because mine is a little bit too old now, but my monitor only has vga output and newer GPU's only have DVI and HDMI. I don't know if I should buy an adapter or which one to buy.

Another question, if I connect the monitor to the motherboard VGA my computer will use the integrated GPU or the dedicated one.

Solution
You need an active converter to convert the digital signal to analog.

DisplayPort - Digital Only
HDMI - Digital Only
DVI-D - Digital Only
DVI-I - Both Digital and Analog
VGA - Analog Only

Now the latest generation(s) of graphic cards and remove all possible analog outputs (VGA/DVI-I) so you would either need to go with an older generation of graphic card, get a new display and can accept a digital signal, or find an active converter.
