I have a fair amount of knowledge with computers so i decided to build my own gaming desktop, well i have ordered all of the parts that I need and know how to put them in the motherboard and that but there is one thing that i am a little unclear on, my question is once I have all my parts fitted what connectors and wires do i need to set up. I've heard that you have different types of cable plus you have cables for data and power. I have a dedicated GPU if that helps.
This is my part list.
CPU: AMD FX 8350
GPU: Sapphire r9 270x 4gb
RAM: Hyperx Fury 8gb DDR3
Mobo: Gigabyte GA-970A DS3P AM3+
HDD: WD 1TB 3.5 Caviar Blue
PSU: EVGA 500w ATX
Fans: Corsair AF120 120mm
Disk Drive: Lite-on ihas 124-14

Thanks

Solution
Connect PCI-e cables from PSU to GPU.
Connect Serial ATA Power and Data cables to the hard drive and repeat for ODD
Connect 4-pin CPU power to motherboard.
Connect 20-pin ATX power cable to motherboard.
Connect front panel headers to the motherboard (refer to the manual of you MB for correct orientation)
Connect front panel USB 2 and USB 3 to motherboard.
Connect fans to PWM fan headers.

P.S. Try to route the cables behind the motherboard tray for better airflow and aesthetics.
