Connecting Cameras to PC

Hi,
I was wondering if there was a way that i could connect 12 cameras that use the BNC camera to a surveillance server, and if you could recommend a software that could take advantage of up to 16 channels. Thanks!!

It would almost certainly be easier and cheaper to purchase a dedicated setup

To connect to an existing server? You'd need 3-4 PCI-E cards (4 connections each)

We have had 4 Lorex boxes and all of them have died the same way. Would this be an acceptable solution for a 12 channel system? I had one...died after 5 years, but that was just the HDD.

Dust or other environmental concerns?
Those Lorex/Swann things are literally just a small Linux based PC. Nothing especially good or crappy about them.

Im building my own windows-based surviallance PC so i dont have to deal with them anymore xD. Im going to have tp upgrade from a mini-itx board to a ATX but thats ok xD

Yes.
If you want 12/16 cameras, you will need multiple PCI-E slots.

That motherboard only has 1 PCI-E slot.
So you'd be limited to 1 card (4 BNC camera ports).

Software? What does the card manufacturer recommend?
