Connecting D-Link WAP to SMC router

I have 3 computers networked with a SMB Barricade wired router which is
connected to the internet via a cable modem. I just bought a laptop and
a D-Link WAP. I want the laptop to share the network and internet
access. (I didn't replace the router with a wireless due to its
location in the basement.) The router has an IP address of 192.168.2.1.
I noticed the WAP has an IP address of 192.168.0.50. With the
difference in the 3rd octet (2 vs 0), are these devices going to be able
to communicate with each other? Or do I need to change the IP address
of one of these devices to make them talk?

I apparently can only change the last octet of th WAP (according to the
instructions, I don't have it hooked up yet). But it looks like I can
change all 4 octets of the router IP address, plus it has an IP address
pool of 192.168.2.2 - 192.168.2.121. Can I change the start IP address
of the pool to 192.168.0.1 and have all devices talk to each other?

If your subnet mask is 255.255.0.0, all of these devices will be able to
talk to each other. All devices though have be set to 255.255.0.0. If one
of them only allows setting a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0, then you need to
put your IP addresses into that range as well. They could be 192.168.0.x or
192.168.1.x, etc.
