Hello all,
I currently have my desktop connected straight from the video card to the monitor with an HDMI cable. I recently bought a AV receiver to simply connecting multiple devices to one monitor. Now my question is, if I connect the video card to the AV receiver and then to the monitor, what kind impact would that have on gaming and general performance?
AV Receiver: Sony 72W AV Receiver
Video card: Sapphire Radeon HD 7870 XT

Solution
I have done that exact same thing with one of my sony receivers, it doesn't seem to impact anything at all. If it does present any lag it is so small that the human eye cannot detect it. Give it a shot and see if your receiver supports the pass-through. :)

side note, not all receivers will be recognized as having audio capabilities via hdmi if you are passing through to a monitor. If this happens just run an optical or even analog audio cables to the receiver for the audio and rely on the hdmi solely for video.
