Im kinda new to the whole pc gaming. I have a display port and hdmi cable on the monitor while the pc has a dvi display port and hdmi how do I get them to connect to eachother and work I'm confused?

If anyone could help it would be appreciated as I've had no luck so far once I connected the hdmi both ways the graphics card wasn't recognised by the system and the graphics were terrible.

You only need one cable from gfx card to monitor, not both. Use the HDMI if both card and monitor have those ports. When you refer to the GPU, are you referring to the integrated GPU (if available) or a discrete gfx card? If the latter, list the make/model of the card, and the computer or motherboard.
