Hi there
I have gigabyte gtx 1660. It has 8 pin connector. I bought an adapter with 2*4pin male connectors ending with a 8pin female connection into the graphic card. My psu is 500watts.
I used 1 of the 2 (4pin male) adapter connects to provide power to the card. I booted up pc and I got the message that I need to connect my pci power cables into the card.
My question is did I need to connect both the 4 pins male cables leading to the 8pin connection on the card? Or is one enough. If I do need both then I have to buy some kind of adapter. But wanted to know for sure.
Really thankfully for advise.

Solution
you need a new PSU. those adapters cannot handle the 45W you are asking of it. the 120W card will get 75 from the slot and another 45 from the 8-pin. the adapter connects to a low draw connection @10W. even both is not half what the card will need.
those adapters are a fire hazard and only useful when the draw is very low @10-15W for both connected. 85-90W cards the adapter is fine, yours is higher.
you need a new PSU.

one is not enough the adapter needs both 4 pins (molex) connected. you only have one available? you need a new PSU
