I own the EVGA GeForce GTX780 3GB GDDR5 384bit, Dual-Link DVI-I, DVI-D, HDMI,DP, SLI Ready Graphics Card and the Allied ATX 300w Switching Power Supply.

Today, I was trying to install the graphics card, but got stuck because there doesn't seem to be a way to connect the 6 pin and 8 pin power cords to my power supply.

Do I need to upgrade/buy a new power supply, or am I missing something?

Oh, and I'm a computer noob, so take that into consideration. :)

Thanks!

A GTX780 needs a good quality 600+W power supply per tiers 1, 2a or 2b of http://www.tomshardware.com/answers/id-1804779/power-supply-unit-tier-list.html. With a 6 and 8 pin connector per http://www.geforce.com/hardware/desktop-gpus/geforce-gtx-780/specifications
eg Seasonic M12II 620 $75 - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817151095
XFX 650 $92 - http://www.amazon.com/XFX-PRO650W-Edition-Bronze-Certified/dp/B0045L5LGI
or Antec HCG 620M $85 - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817371059&cm_re=antec_hcg_620m-_-17-371-059-_-Product

you will need to upgrade your power supply, 300W is not enough to power your system (i suppose your build is high end). See if you can afford a 1000w psu with 80+ gold. If you want to, you can also buy a modular power supply, where you can use only the cables you need to power your system and the rest can be put away. Hope this helped 😀

So each of these PSUs have the ability to attach a 6 and 8 pin power cord to it? Just making sure I know these will work.

Yes, your PSU is not designed to power this level GPUs

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130918

System Requirements:
600 watt or greater power supply with a minimum of 42 amps on the +12 volt rail.
1 x 6 pin PCI-E Connector
1 x 8 pin PCI-E Connector

http://www.guru3d.com/articles_pages/evga_geforce_gtx_780_sc_acx_review,7.html

Here is Guru3D's power supply recommendation:

GeForce GTX 780 - On your average system the card requires you to have a 550 Watt power supply unit.
GeForce GTX 780 2-way SLI - On your average system the cards require you to have a 800 Watt power supply unit as minimum.
GeForce GTX 780 3-way SLI - On your average system the cards require you to have a 1200 Watt power supply unit as minimum.

If you are going to overclock your GPU or processor, then we do recommend you purchase something with some more stamina.

So.... at the very least I'd gran a 620 - 650 watter to provide OC Headroom and the fact is there is a miniscule price difference between 500 and 650 (The S12 520 is $5 cheaper than the 620 below)

$65 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817151096
$75 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817151095
$80 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817207014

If your MoBo can do SLI and ya want that path available for a cheap and ez upgrade....

$95 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817207011
