[SOLVED] connecting hdd with wiring

Having in mind a small cost, not wanting to buy enclosures or a docking stations, im wondering if its possible to use wiring+chipset pad with ports, in order to connect hdds to my computer. As if i was to strip a hdd enclosure from the parts that are needed for the connectivity. I wonder if i can find these parts some were on eBay perhaps.

You connect sata HDD to a pc with sata data and sata power cable. No enclosure "stripping" necessary.

So - is that 2.5" PATA drive?

Are you trying to recover data from those drives?
Or, do you plan to have them all connected for processing?

If you value the data on those drives which I imagine are old and low capacity, I would try to transfer the data to a newer /larger single drive.

Yes, i would prefer to use all 4 at once, but im ok if i can use just the 2 3.5" together.

And you'll also need power connections as well as data.
3.5" drives can't run off USB only.

Let me rephrase...
3.5" drives can't run from USB only.
Some 2.5" drives can, but not all.

There are numerous cable arrangements or docking stations to connect these to a system via USB.

But, being IDE...they are old, and living on borrowed time.
Still don't know the capacity of these things.

Alternative: Spend the $48 on a modern 3 or 4 TB external USB drive? (you'll spend that much or more on the assorted IDE/pwr/USB adapter kits to connect the current mess anyway)

Fifteen year old IDE drives should not be trusted with any data worthy of storing.

Regarding the age of the drives and the fact of not being very trustworthy... i had this solved by having a Timemachine backup on them
