Connecting multiple devices with a set IP

Hi, I'm not a tech guy, I'm an electrician so I'm not great in computer aspects but I'm ok. I have a device with a static ip that I cannot change, 192.168.35.1. I want to have this device on the same network as my PC and router so I can freely access the device without going into my IP4 settings and changing my PC all the time.
I went into my router and changed the default IP from 192.168.1.1 to 192.168.35.5 to make it on the same subnet(is that the right word?) and that worked but if I set my TCP/IPv4 to 192.168.35.2, then I no longer have internet connection but I can see my device. How do I get everything on the same network but still be able to access the internet? They are also all on the 255.255.255.0 mask.

Solution
My guess, is that you manually set the IP of your PC but didn't correctly set the gateway to 192.168.35.5 . Setting the DNS and gateway to your router would be required when you manually set your IP. Alternatively, I would recommend that you change the DHCP settings on the router to start at 192.168.35.100, set the PC to DHCP and you should be good to go.
Why can't you change the IP address on the device?

At any rate, as long as all the devices are on the same subnet and there are no IP address conflicts then you should be good to go. Is there a chance that another device already has the 192.168.35.2 address?

If you can see the router but not get Internet access then it could mean that an incorrect DNS server is configured. This should be set to the router's IP address.

The device is a MicroLogix 1100 PLC controller and that's the preset IP address and I am not sure how to change it. I figured it would be easier to change the IP on the router and the PC. There is no chance the 35.2 address is used so I am inclined to believe it is a DNS server as I have no idea what that is so it is very unlikely that one is set up. I will look into trying to figure out how to make one.

I see, I set the network LAN address to 192.168.35.5 but not the DHCP. I would need to change the
DHCP range from 192.168.1.100 - 192.168.1.199 to 192.168 35.100 - 192.168.35.199 and the
default gateway from 192.168.1.1 to 192.168.35.5, correct? And then I would no longer need to manually change the PC's address because it will be assigned one without that new range.

Spot on, the only exception would be the PLC controller.

IF you configure the router's DHCP range to .100 to .199, then you could set your PC to DHCP for IP and DNS info. That should automatically configure the PC.
I don't THINK the PLC is also a DHCP server, it can be a DHCP client.
