Hi. I have a Mobile internet modem upstrais, this box has no ports for me to use Ethernet cable. Downstairs i have a TP-Link Router with no internet connection. Is it possible for the router to be connected to the modem upstairs, wirelessly so i can get internet downstairs as well, without using any cables?

I have tried a few guides here and there, but i can't get the router to connect to the modem. So, i'm wondering if this is possible at all? If so, can someone guide me to a guide or help me out with this? Thanks!

EDIT: I tried to follow this guide. But with no luck.

- I got the same Router. My modem is a tpMIFI.

Does the following link show the tpMIFI modem you are using?

Not sure that that modem can meet the requirements.

Distance between upstairs and downstairs? Obstacles, building construction....?

Update your post to include the specific model and version numbers for both modem and router.

Do you have the respective User Guides/Manuals?

If I am following correctly, the upstairs modem (tpMIFI) will need to serve as the router (DHCP) and have a wireless connection to the downstairs TP Link Router.

The TP Link router, in turn, would be configured as an Access Point (no router functions).

Part of process:

https://www.tp-link.com/us/support/faq/417/

Objective is to establish wireless connectivity between modem and router.

And do use an Ethernet cable (per the red-lettered "Note") between a PC and the router to set up the router as an Access Point.

The tplink router needs to be configured as a client-bridge not a AP. A AP allows end client to connect to it he needs his devices to act as the end client. This is function is not on most routers, most have the ability to run as a repeater if they have the feature.

Still this is kinda a crazy way to get a wifi nic card. It tends to be easier to use a USB nic card.
