Hello, I know this question has been asked several years back -so looking for a current solution. I have a remote security recorder in an HOA pool and I would like to connect to the recorder- but there is not a wired connection in the control room I have a ASUS home router ( RT-N66R, which I can replace if needed). The pool control room is located about 450 to 500 feet away. The area between the pool and myself if generally open (i can achieve line of sight). The recorder has a wan/lan port. The goal is to be able to access the recorder via my mobile phone AND to allow the recorder to send email alerts based on the camera alerts. Would like to keep the cost under $200 (not including a new router if needed. Thanks

A PAIR of directional wireless bridges is what you would want to do. You would get two devices like this -- https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833168116 and create an encrypted point-to-point link between them. You would mount them outside your house and the pool control room pointing at each-other. You could then tie this bridge link into your home network to get internet access to it on your phone.
The video recorder would become and extended reach of your home network.
