Hello friends,
First the information:
My ISP provide me with a fiber connection and the fiber connection plugs directly into a router that the ISP provided. That router is not good with only 2 lan port and N150 wifi.

Therefore i want to purchase a bada** router with gigabit ports and AC wifi. This is for my in home networking, stream movies to tv etc. But i read that you need to connect a cable from a modem to the wan port of the new router. I dont have a modem, the internet comes from the router provided by the ISP.

How can i connect the old router to the new good one , so that it provides internet to it. All my devices will be connected to the new router via lan and wifi and these devices gets an internet connection.

Thanking you in advance for your help.

You MAY be able to set the combo device to bridge mode which would have it act like a modem. You could ask your ISP if there is a modem ONLY solution available. If nothing else, you should disable the WIFI on the ISP provided hardware if you get a new WIFI router.

Hello digam, simply use one of the ports from your isp's modem and connect it to the new modem you are planning on buying, you will see slot on the back of the new modem (it is usually a different colour). Then just use the ports on your new modem for lan! Have fun!

Your current ISP provided box is already doing routing, so if you add ANOTHER bada** router you will be double NATing and that complicates matter including if you are doing any torrent.

As Kanewolf says, ask ISP for a plain modem, OR instead of a bada** router, buy a bada** ACCESS POINT and perhaps a bada** gigabit switch.
