I am a Private Investigator and have situations where I want to install a camera and DVR in a location and be able to access it remotely but connecting to a hardwired internet source is not an option. I came up with the following theory but am not sure if and how it would work. Any input or advice would be appreciated!

I plug the analog camera into a DVR and connect that to a router. I then plug in a wifi adapter into the LAN port on the switch and connect to a MiFi hotspot. I then set up port forwarding and am able to connect remotely to the equipment.

Is this possible?

One question I have is how would I configure the router to connect via the wifi adapter to the MiFi as it would have to select that as the network to connect to and enter a password.

Some MiFI adapters have ethernet ports. You need to work with your cellular provider to find one that can be connected to via ethernet. You will also have to check with your carrier if port forwarding is enabled. Most don't have that option.
