For 2 weeks I have been trying to set up a third monitor. I just bought an active display adapter port whatever its called and its still not working.. I have an AMD Radeon HD 7800 series video card and I even watched the AMD video they made themselves and they said use 2 DVI or whatever and one active displayport thingy, and everyone said that everywhere including this forum. And its still not working... I spoke to tech people on Geeksquad and they said I should try and USB-DVI Display adapter like this one : http://www.bestbuy.com/site/j5-create-jua-230-usb-2-0-dvi-display-adapter-silver/1305186956.p;jsessionid=4CAD1C73638BE5D2C12A16612F017F5F.bbolsp-app01-146?id=mp1305186956&skuId=1305186956&st=j5%20create&cp=1&lp=5#tab=buyingOptions

What do you think?

Mini-DisplayPort is just another connecter. The mini-edition of displayport. It has the same working as a regular DisplayPort. The people who mentioned it probably had a GPU with only Mini-DisplayPorts.

The USB adapter would be an extra GPU. The one you linked would only support up to 1680x1050.

As far as I know, an USB adapter would not provide you the power of your GPU. If you were going to use your third monitor for gaming on multiple monitors for example, it wont work with an USB adapter.

What kind of active adapter do you use? Do you have a link for the product?

Your setup should work with 2 passive DVI connections and 1 active display-port to DVI adapter. If this doesn't work, you're either doing something wrong, or the adapter is defect.

It never detects the other mother. I have no idea why. Now Im suddenly reading you need a active MINI Displayport adapter? I dont think there is a place behind my pc to place this mini shit, so I guess my only way out is to get this usb adapter, will this one work? - https://www.komplett.se/st-lab-usb-20-dvi-adapter/587928

I have tried enabling my integral graphics to run my third monitor via vga there... but I dont know much about computer I wish someone could talk on skype or something and run me through it

I dont need more than 1680x1050 for my third monitor. I guess Im gonna have to order that one and hope for the best. I have to connect the usb anywhere behind my pc correct? just where I would normally put my keyboard or whatever. Can you explain why the usb would work, where does it go?

You would only need info about the USB adapter itself. If the drivers don't install automatically, you should download it from their website. It is also pretty usual they include a disk with drivers to install.

If it doesn't work at first use, you could always use the manual they include in the package. These devices are sold to be installed by people with very few knowlegde of computers. So I'm sure you can figure it out ;)

Hey. I got it today and I followed the instructions. I installed all the drivers and stuff but noticed that one of them (displaylink) was out of date, so I had to remove all drivers again, download the latest displaylink drivers from the website which I did, and install the rest of the drivers, but its still not working. Everytime I restart pc a thing called Trigger 1+ tells me to reboot my pc, every single time. And when I go to device manager and look on the drivers. But Triggers USB Graphics Chipset Family 1P-E and 1P-M and they both have a yellow triangel exclemation mark on them. I have tried for so long to get the third monitor to work... what can the problem be? I downloaded some kind of driver detecter program and it tells me that I need to update USB Display device T1P. My avg antivirus is telling me I need to update those 2 Family Chipsets, but when I click on update them it says its already the latest update. Please help me

What is the exact Device you have bought?
What is your Operating System (version and 32/64bit?)
What motherboard do you have?

You should update all drivers to the newest, untill no warnings are shown in Device Manager.

You could also choose to start clean.
Eliminate all software problems by re-installing your Operating System.
If you start clean, you can install all newest drivers and get a clean up-to-date system.

Its fixed!!!!!!! :)) I spoke with the company and with the disc comes the waaaaaay outdated versions of the drivers. Updating the drivers from the computer apparently doesnt work you had to go deep into their website to find the drivers for it. Thank you for all the help! But I have to admit its a bit slower than the other monitors, I suppose thats a bit normal?
