I put the guest in quotes for a reason. I've hooked up a machine to a business wifi network. This business also subscribes to a CableWifi service for customers. On the Cable wifi service the connection is perfectly fine, I get on the internet, it moves fine, no issues at all. On the password protected wifi I'm having all kinds of issues. It connects but sporadically I get issues where it gives me the "connected no internet" notification. It works at times, but overall it's not working.
The machine with the issue is a reformatted machine I upgraded to windows 7 Ultimate edition. It has a USB wifi adapter (simple N150) My phone which is right next to it connects to the secured wifi perfectly fine as do 3 other machines, 1 running Windows 7 profession, 1 running windows 7 home and one running windows 8 home though those are all in the same room as the router, this is about 15 feet straight line away. I tried windows 7 professional on this computer first FWIW. I'm gonna try the basic thing and unplug the modem/router and plug it back in and see if that does anything, but it didn't properly resolve the issue the last time I did it.
The other thing I'm doing is upgrading to Windows 10. I had grander internetworking plans that is why I'm not upgrading the other ones yet because I want to make sure all the software is compatible to the big move first, but this one I just need for basic internet connection.
