Connecting to the wrong internet while using ethernet

For some reason, my computer connects to different internet than what it is hard wired into. Lets just say our internet name is "Internet". My computer connects to "Internet 2", which is something no one else in my house is getting and can't be found on the WiFi. The one idea I think this correlates to is the fact its hard wired into the second slot of our router. Is there any way I can stop getting this "Internet 2" and go back to the regular "Internet"?

Any ideas would be great, thanks.

How might I find and uninstall this emulator? I've searched my "Programs and Features" but can't anything. Would there be a specific folder path that it would be contained in? I'll continue searching through my folders to see if I can find it.

I believe this has to do with the network sharing setup which happens when reinstalling the system. I changed this in Windows 7 by some obscure setting in the network settings but don't know if it can still be done in Windows 10. It doesn't matter so I'd ignore it.

I can't really ignore it since it hinders what I can do with the internet. Most of the time when I'm googling stuff, the webpage crashes. I can't use any voice communications since it can never connect. My regular internet doesn't have this problem and works completely fine.

Okay forget other responses. This is a basic computer education.

When your connected to Wired connection, it just list as a wired connection, there is no 'name' to the network as your
thinking like Wireless. But if you connect BOTH the Wired AND Wireless to the connection, you now have TWO connections. Internet and Internet 2, in other words the WIRED connection to Internet and the WIRELESS connection to Internet2 .

It is NOT a good thing to connect BOTH since it confuses Windows on 'which' connection and messes things up. If you have a wireless connection then just stick to that. Also NO it doesn't speed things up or 'double' your connection speed.

The only issue I had for this was connecting to a tuner. Following the GreenButton forum directions I changed the tuner's Local Network setting to Full Trust in Norton Firewall. This never happened again and software changes.
I can't find the setting for changing the name of the network but it was possible at one time. It normally doesn't matter. It must have been under Media Streaming Options somewhere. The simplest approach would be to leave the Homegroup and rejoin. This all depends on what computer is the base and what OS you're using.

Another situation occurs when switching from a connection to the modem vs. a router which can cause this name change. Not sure what happened in your case but it isn't generally safe to connect to the modem unless it has router functions as well.

Alright, I'm trying to follow what you're saying as best I can, so please bare with me. I'm going to clip what it looks it look like in my computer settings down below. I know you mentioned above that connecting through ethernet and connecting through WiFi is bad, but on my computer (a desktop) is unable to connect to WiFi without an adapter. I used an adapter in the past, before I got ethernet, and was able to use ethernet problem free up until this recent time. Currently, I don't have a list of networks to chose from like I would when I had WiFi available. Could there be a driver thats causing conflict? If any of this helps out, please let me know.

Okay the problem is your applying 'how I connect' with Wifi to Wired, and they aren't the same or close. So forget that "I don't have a list of networks to chose from" when your wired. When your Wired your connected that is it, just keep the Adapter UNPLUGGED from the desktop. It names it Internet 2 because it was the SECOND (2) connection you had AT the SAME TIME as the Wireless connection when both were connected.

Let me put it another way (if that is still confusing). Take your headphones... when you plug in the WIRE into your iPad your listening to the iPad right? When you unplug the WIRE and plug it into your iPhone, your listening to the iPhone not the iPad right? There isn't a "list" to choose from, where you plugged it is is what it is WIRED to.

BUT when you use your Blutooth Earpiece, you need to select it on the iPHone (pair it), then you have to do the same thing for the Xbox (pair it) ... your selecting the WIRELESS (blutooth) device. SAME thing saying with WIRED VS WIRELESS. Hope that helps.

So what do you think might be causing this then? Currently my adapter is unplugged and hasn't been plugged in since the latest restart, but I still have "Internet 2". Also, the other day my father was messing around with bridge mode in our internet gateway and thats when I felt that this really began. Could that cause something like this? Sorry if I'm just spouting useless information, I know next to nothing about networking.

The bridge mode changes could be the cause. For one WiFi connection the computer will normally switch seamlessly between wireless and wired. More creates the issue mentioned by Tom.
The issue however is that your Internet 2 is related to the Home Group for sharing. If nothing else have all computers leave the Home Group and recreate a Home Group and have each join. This can take a few minutes on each machine to establish and may require restarting the machine. If your machine is not the one that created the Home Group you should only need to do that one. Limiting sharing is a good practice so only join when needed.

Basically your confusing yourself and worse these are technical terms and understand which if you have "next to nothing" about networking then really the conversation is at a dead end. I would HIGHLY suggest you pick up Idiot's Guide to Networking (I love their series) and read it over first and learn the basics. Your never really going to comprehend what is being said here until you at least know more than "nothing".
