connecting tower to lcd tv monitor

I'm getting no signal after connecting hdmi cable to tower and tv... it's a 2009 samsung lcd tv monitor that i'm trying to use as a computer monitor...it should work, right?

Yes, as long as it has the appropriate connections like you already said, it will work. First off, are you trying to connect the HDMI into the motherboard or GPU HDMI port? And have you tried a different HDMI cable? And make sure the tv is set to the correct input.

Thank you for your reply... I'm connecting the hdmi into the motherboard & the tv is set to hdmi dvi1... I also tried a different hdmi cable... still get "No signal".

Haven't tried another tv since this SamsungTV should work because it was connected to my cable box via hdmi cable and worked great.

Is it on the right AV channel on the TV? Or is there only 1 HDMI port on it?

Well, if you already tried the cables, ports, etc...then it really seems to be a pc issue. So, I would say try the GPU in a different computer if possible. Or maybe in a different motherboard slot if you have other slots. If you still can't get it to work, then the gpu may need to be replaced...can't really say for sure.

There is an hdmi In port and hdmi dvi1 port on the tv... tried both ports with correct setting on tv and got the same "no signal" message.

Has it ever worked correctly?

If not, then I would RMA the GPU...or better if you can't use components in another build to check them yourself...then I would see if a local shop could check it.
