Hello everyone,

I have a need to connect 2 different switches.
The one which is currently installed and working is a HP Procurve 1410 (http://cdn-reichelt.de/bilder/web/xxl_ws/E910/HP_1410-24G_02.png)
The 2nd one is a Cisco 3850.

I think of using the SFP port to connect via an optical fiber cable.

So, here are my questions:

- Is my thinking correct and what do I need to consider?
- The "target" switch is the Cisco. What do I need to configure in there so that this will perform correctly?
- With SFP port I can use either optical fiber or RJ45, is that correct?

Thank you all in advance.

These are managed switches are they not? if you use these babies, it's advised you learn how to configure them. They are not plug&play, or pay somebody to do it.

An optical connection would not fit into a RJ45 jack, so whatever type of jacks you got, is what it allows you to do.
