Connection Issues - Computer Specific

Had this problem a while now and it's got worse over time. My computer basically loses connection or halts to an incredibly slow speed to the internet any time I ask it to do anything relatively"demanding" bandwidth wise. So this includes using streaming services or playing online video games. I'm sure my computer is the issue here since this has happened on 3 separate networks. I've recently tried replacing the network adapter card as well as set-up a powerline connection but neither of these have helped. Any other suggestions please?

Solution
Have you tried other known working Ethernet cables? Does not take much of a cable problem to cause a slowdown or even a disconnect.

Take a closer look at what the computer is doing:

Boot your computer as normal.

Open Task Manager and watch what is happening for a while. Look for applications, processes, services that are using the highest %'s of resources, etc..

Then slide the Task Manager to one side, leave open, and work as you normally do. But keep an eye on what is happening within Task Manager.

You may be able to spot something that is bottlenecking your computer. Some buggy application, some software continually trying to phone home.

Once the cause is identified then a solution can be sought. May be some combination...

Once the cause is identified then a solution can be sought. May be some combination of events so do not immediately react to the first apparent "cause".
