Question Connection speed increased, Why?

As the title said, My internet connection more than doubled, While I'am not complaining I would like to know why from a technical perspective.
All I can recall was me changing some options on my router and then BAM, my internet went from 8Mbps to 22Mbps even though my internet plan is for just 8Mbps, Upload stayed the same though.
It was an option named "DSL type" that I changed from ALL to G.dmt and ADSL2+ only.
Any ideas to what caused this?

8mbit is max speed G.DMT can run at (its ADSL1) whereas 24mbit is max ADSL2+ can run at.

Sounds like swapping that setting has you running as ADSL2+ now. I expect your ISP will notice eventually and ask for more money.
