Hello everyone,
Sorry for the long posts...
I have Cox cable as I dont have any other choice since I live in the mountains. Here is my issue...
Recently Cox changed their services and started to charge a lot more for their internet. I called them and they said we no longer offer the 50Mbs of speed but we can give you 100Mbs at a different rate.
Having no choice I upgraded to the 100Mbs speed. Once that occurred everything eventually attached stop working.
They sent out a tech who could not figure out the problem as I went for a strong signal before down to 2Mbps - 20Mbps.....
Finally after checking the lines he said your modem is probably the problem and you will need a new one. However it was working fine up until they changed the speed. I noticed when he connected his tester to the line coming into the house it showed a 1.6GB strength signal coming in.
He said you are being sent a 1.6GB signal however you are only getting 100Mbps since that is what you are paying for. Seeing that signal I would say your modem is too slow and you will need to get a new modem.
Question - If the modem is being sent a 1.6GB signal but only receiving 100Mbps does that require me to upgrade all the hardware to be Gigabyte compatible? This has knocked all systems wired and wireless into extreme poor connections.
Where once there were no issues... now 3 computers, NAS server, Smart TVs, are having connectivity issues....
Sorry for the rambling... a little lost on what to do...
Is Gigabyte required due to strength of the signal coming in even though I am only paying for 100Mbps?
Thank you and sorry for the long post.
